Two firms published opposite views on eBay on October 12, according to 24/7 Wall St. and TIKR.

The bull case

Morgan Stanley’s Nathan Feather named eBay his top internet pick, kept an Overweight rating and raised his target to $132 from $127. His reported argument is that eBay Live, the live-streamed selling format, accounted for more than 40% of gross merchandise volume growth in fiscal 2026 and is the piece that turns a flat marketplace into a growing one.

The bear case

Wells Fargo’s Ken Gawrelski kept an Underweight rating and lowered his target to $91 from $92. As reported, he expects eBay to beat on third-quarter volume but worries that spending on Live and consumer-to-consumer features, plus competition from Vinted, will weigh on earnings; his fiscal 2027 EPS estimate is 8% below consensus.

Where they agree

Both notes turn on monetization. eBay’s take rate held at 14% in the second quarter, and live-commerce volume currently earns less per dollar than standard listings. The stock rose as much as 5.8% intraday and closed up 2.2% at $114.65.

Why it matters for the stock

For readers following EBAY, the October 28 report will show whether Live volume is growing fast enough to offset its lower take rate. That single ratio is the difference between the two targets.
