JPMorgan upgraded Biogen to Overweight from Neutral on October 12 and lifted its price target to $300 from $210, according to TradingPedia and Quiver Quantitative.

The argument

Analyst Chris Schott’s reported case is a catalyst path rather than the Alzheimer’s drug Leqembi. He flags three clinical readouts by 2027: felzartamab in antibody-mediated rejection after kidney transplant, which the firm sizes as a market above $2 billion, litifilimab in cutaneous lupus, and a third program. He expects EPS growth to accelerate from mid single digits to low double digits or higher by 2030, with the shares at about 14 times 2027 earnings.

Context

The $300 figure is the highest published target. Other recent moves include UBS raising to $270 and RBC lowering to $256; the median of recent targets before the upgrade was about $225. Biogen reports third-quarter results on October 28, with consensus EPS near $2.66.

Why it matters for the stock

For readers following BIIB, the upgrade reframes the stock from a declining multiple sclerosis franchise to a pipeline story, but the readouts it depends on are more than a year away and binary. The nearer checkpoint is whether Leqembi and the new depression drug Zurzuvae keep revenue stable until then.
