Delta Air Lines reported September-quarter 2026 results on October 9. The release shows GAAP operating revenue of $20.2 billion and adjusted revenue of $17.6 billion, a record for the quarter and up 16% from a year earlier.

Revenue strength, fuel drag

Adjusted total unit revenue grew 15%, accelerating three points from the prior quarter, with domestic unit revenue up 16% on strong yields. Adjusted operating margin was 9.4% and adjusted pre-tax income $1.5 billion, the same as a year earlier, because higher fuel prices absorbed the revenue gain. GAAP EPS was $1.15 and adjusted EPS $1.72. Operating cash flow was $1.7 billion, and free cash flow for the year to date was $1.9 billion.

Outlook

For the December quarter Delta expects revenue growth of about 20% with seats growing less than 2%, operating margin of 7% to 9%, and EPS of $1.15 to $1.65, assuming fuel at the October 2 forward curve. For the full year it expects EPS of $5.10 to $5.60, pre-tax profit of roughly $4.5 billion, free cash flow of about $2.5 billion, and gross leverage of about 2.2 times, with more than $2 billion of debt repayment in 2026.

What to compare next

For readers following DAL, the quarter shows revenue growth absorbing a $6 billion fuel increase rather than dropping to the bottom line. Oil prices, which the site tracks on its most undervalued stocks and energy pages, are the variable that decides whether the full-year range is reached.
