US Stock Market Holidays 2026 and 2027

The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are closed on US federal market holidays. On a few days each year they close early, at 1:00 PM Eastern Time, instead of the usual 4:00 PM. When a holiday lands on a weekend, the market observes it on the nearest weekday, which is the date shown below.

Good to know

  • On a full holiday both the regular session and the electronic premarket and after-hours sessions are closed.
  • On an early-close day the regular session ends at 1:00 PM Eastern, and after-hours trading is shortened accordingly.
  • The bond market sometimes follows a different schedule from the stock market; this page covers the stock exchanges (NYSE and Nasdaq) only.
  • Exchanges occasionally close for other reasons, such as a national day of mourning. Those are announced separately and are not listed here.
